FOR MATHS LESSONS

Show the working. Find the understanding.

A correct answer only tells part of the story. Write the steps, sketch the diagram and let your learner show how they got there.

    Build one clear worked example

Put the question at the top and leave space for each step. Use a second colour for explanations instead of crossing out the original work. That makes mistakes easier to discuss.

    Make the learner the author

Give edit access and ask the student to complete the next line. Watch their working on the shared board, then use a nearby annotation to explain a correction.

Use AI carefully with mathematical notation

AI clean-up can help make a busy board more legible. Always check signs, fractions, powers and labels afterwards. Keep the mathematical reasoning with the teacher and learner.
